We have provided all details about the BPSC MAIn's 2018 exam pattern and the latest courses. BPSC has not made much changes in the syllabus and there is not much change in the examination pattern too.

Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) organizes three-level examination for the final selection of candidates in the administrative department of the state. All candidates need to clarify all the three phases of the BPSC examination to get the final selection.


BPSC Initial Year Cut Off


There is a written examination in which the prelims and men's examination takes place after which the interview takes place. BPSC prelims exam passes in nature. Candidates passing the BPSC Preliminary Examination are called for the Men's Examination. Men's examination is 900 points. If a candidate passes the BPSC Men's examination, he is called for an interview which is of 120 marks. Therefore, merit is prepared with 1020 points.


BPSC Mains 2018: Examination Pattern


Candidates who have passed the BPSC Preliminary Examination 2018 are called for BPSC Men's Examination. BPSC prelims exam passes in nature. It does not matter how many marks are in the prelims exam because it will not be considered for the Men's examination.

The qualifying paper in BPSC Men's Examination will be General Hindi. In addition, General Studies Paper 1 and General Studies Paper 2 will be. Both of these papers will be of 300 points each. There is an optional paper that the candidate has to choose when filling the application form. Optional paper is 300 points.

Candidates will have to pass in General Hindi paper.
Questions of general study will be available in both Hindi and English.
Final Score will be obtained by considering total number of 900 in GS Paper 1, GS Paper 2 and optional paper.
Candidates who are placed at the higher positions in the merit list are called for interview.

BPSC Men's Examination 2018: Detailed Course


Qualifying paper: General Hindi

Paper of General Hindi will be passed in nature. The syllabus of qualifying paper is at the level of the Bihar School Education Board (BSEB). Qualifying paper will be 100 points in nature and subjective. The distribution of points is as follows:

Of 100 marks, candidates need to secure only 33 points in paper.

General Studies Paper (GS Papers)

So far, every paper qualifying is of nature. BPSC prelims exam and general Hindi paper are only qualifying. The actual examination now starts with general study papers. There are two papers of general study. Each paper in general study has 300 points.

Statistical Analysis, Graph, and Diagram: Questions to test the ability to draw conclusions from statistical, graphical, or diagrammatic information and to point out the drawbacks, limitations or discrepancies.

Indian Politics: Question based on political system in India including Bihar
Indian Economy and India's Geography: Plan in India and questions on the physical, economic and social geography of India and Bihar.
Role and impact of science and technology in the development of India: Questions to test awareness about the role and impact of science and technology in India and Bihar with special reference to applied science.


Alternative paper

In the optional paper, a candidate is required to choose one of the subjects. This paper will be 300 points with a time limit of 3 hours. There are 34 alternative subjects in the BPSC Mains exam.
